A plank worded more favorably to Israel than the proposals which have been made thus far was being sought today behind closed doors at the Foreign Relations Sub-committee of the Republican Platform Committee.

Senator Irving M. Ives, of New York, has expressed displeasure with the present Near Eastern plank, which is said to merely demand amicable settlement of the Arab Israel dispute through a solution satisfactory to both sides.
