A seminar for the study of the role of the police in handing racial tensions in this country began today at the University of Chicago. Sessions will continue through July 25. Fifty police chiefs and other peace officers from many parts of the nation will discuss the basic legal, social and psychological factors that shape the role of local authorities in racial conflicts.
