Chief Rabbi Dr. Isaac Halevi Herzog today laid the foundation stone of a new building in the center of Jerusalem which will serve as the headquarters of the Israel Chief Rabbinate as well as a rabbinical institute. In a dedication speech, Rabbi Herzog said:

“Until the new Temple is rebuilt, this building will in time become the focus point of all Jews throughout the world who are loyal to Judaism and will become the spiritual address of world Jewry.”

The rabbinical institute will have a staff for the training of rabbinical judges and for scholarly research. The cost of erecting the new building is estimated at 500,000 Israel pounds, and the government has promised 50,000 pounds as soon as the initial 50,000 pounds is raised privately.
