The State Department was authorized yesterday by President Truman to undertake the liquidation of the Displaced Persons Commission whose tenure expires on August 31.
The Commission, which has been in existence for about four years, was responsible for bringing about 315,000 displaced persons from Europe to the United States. About 46 percent of the displaced persons admitted to this country up to last January were Catholics, 35 percent were Protestants and 19 percent were Jews.
