The Catholic situation in Israel was reported here today as being better than in certain Christian countries. The report was made by Monsignore Gustavo J. Franceschi, Argentine Catholic dignitary, following his return from a visit to the Jewish State.

Monsignore Franceschi quoted statements of Catholic dignitaries in Israel about the normal Christian religious life there. “The existing Catholic churches function in the most free manner, without any private or state interference in their internal existence,” he stated. He emphasized that in many talks with monks and nuns, and with Catholic residents in Israel, he did not receive any complaints about hindrances to the exercise of freedom of belief or life.
