A special state commission “to fight Communism and Zionism” was established by the new Egyptian Government, it was announced today over the Cairo radio. The announcement also said that Egypt will protest against Israel’s transfer of its government offices from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, it was learned here today that Israel approached Col. Bernard de Ridder, U.N. chairman of the Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission, with a request to arrange a meeting of the Commission.
The Israel Government will also demand an immediate meeting with the Israeli-Syrian Mixed Armistice Committee to discuss the latest declarations made by Gen. Shiskaly, the military dictator of Syria, against the State of Israel, it was announced here last night by a Foreign Ministry spokesman.
The spokesman added that Israel will send an urgent letter to Gen. William Reilly, chief of the United Nations staff in Palestine, regarding the flagrant breach of the armistice agreement which forbids threats against another nation. An order, the spokesman said, will be sent to Ambassador Abba Eban, head of the Israeli delegation at the United Nations, to lodge a strong protest before the Security Council.
