Iraqi delegate Mohammed Jamali today charged at the United Nations that the State of Israel was continuing to disturb the peace of the Middle East. Speaking at the opening of the General Assembly’s general debate he said that Israeli “aggression” along the borders of various Arab states was constantly killing “innocent Arabs.”

The Iraqi delegate claimed that Israel was embarked on a program of large-scale military preparations. He asserted that Israel had defied implementation of the General Assembly’s resolution urging the return of the Palestine Arab refugees to their former homes. He demanded that “justice be done to the Arabs of Palestine” and declared that such justice would make for peace and stability in the Middle East.

It is expected that Israel will not make its policy statement in the general debate until some time next week.
