Haim Cohen, Minister of Justice of the State of Israel and its first Attorney General, arrived in the United States today to confer with leaders of the United Jewish appeal and to address the two-day-U.J.A. National Leadership Conference opening this Saturday evening at the Shoreham Hotel in Washington. This is Mr. Cohen’s first visit to the United States.
The Israel Cabinet officer, who will address more than 500 outstanding Jewish communal leaders, will submit a special report to the U.J.A. conference outlining Israel’s grave need for added financial support with which to accelerate the settlement of its immigrant population and the development of its economic resources.
The conference will mark the three-quarter point in the U.J.A. 1952 nationwide campaign and will usher in its final effort this year to raise large-scale cash funds for financing the settlement, welfare and rehabilitation progress of its constituent agencies–the United Israel Appeal, Joint Distribution Committee and United Service for New Americans.
