Mortimer Gryzmish, Boston Jewish philanthropist, today celebrated his 70th birthday with the establishment of the Gryzmish Chair in Human Relations at Brandeis University. The Chair will stimulate objective research and instruction in the problems of racial and religious conflict. Provision has been made for a permanent endowment so that the study in the field of human relations may be adequately supported.
“The establishment of the Gryzmish Chair in Human Relations is an important step in the strengthening of the Brandeis curriculum,” Dr. A.L. Sachar, University President declared. “The problems of prejudice and group friction should not be left to propagandists and special pleaders. They should be studied with patience and objectivity. Brandeis University is indebted to Mr. Gryzmish for enabling the University to increase the scope of its offerings in this field of study.”
