The Board of Deputies of British Jews today adopted a resolution expressing its concern over the growth of Nazi movements and activities in Germany and urging the British Government to use whatever powers it still has in West Germany to curtail such activities. The resolution also asked the British Government to encourage and support any measures through which Germany “can purge itself of these movements which endanger the peaceful development of Europe.”
In the course of the debate preceding the resolution, Prof, Selig Brodetsky, former head of the Hebrew University and noted Zionist leader, expressed confidence that the Germans would honor the German-Israel reparations agreement as long as Chancellor Konrad Adenauer remains at the helm of the German Government, but pointed out that the treaty has 14 years to run and said he feared what other German Governments would do about honoring the agreement.
