The 27th annual conference of YIVO, Yiddish Scientific Institute, opened here last night with about 2,000 delegates and guests in attendance. The opening session was devoted primarily to the presentation of papers on the Jewish catastrophe in Europe, in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto. The conference will last four days, during which various aspects of Jewish cultural life will be discussed.
