The expulsion of Dr. Moshe Sneh and his associates from the leftist Mapam Party because of their extreme pro-Soviet orientation was decided upon this afternoon at a meeting of the party’s steering committee. It is expected to be approved Wednesday by the party council, which has the last word on party affairs.
Two members of the Communist Party in Israel were ousted today from the board of the Association of Immigrants from Bulgaria on the ground that “they are not Zionists.” It is believed that other immigrant associations will follow their lead.
The latest anti-Jewish and anti-Zionist attacks by the Soviet Union and its satellites have had their repercussions in the ranks of the Israel Communist Party. Many members and supporters of the Communist Party who until now attended party meetings openly have severed all ties with the Communists, and the party’s central committee is understood to be considering closing down a number of clubs in Tel Aviv and its environs.
