Organized labor in Canada was asked to fight anti-Semitism in the countries behind the Iron Curtain in a joint statement trade public today by the Toronto District Trades and Labor Council (AFL) and the Toronto and Lakeshore Labor Council (CIO). The statement charged that this anti-Semitism is employed to win support for Communism in the Arab world and to recruit youth brigades in East Germany.

At a protest meeting sponsored by the Histadrut League in Montreal, Yosef Nevo, Israel consul general in Canada, likened the charges against Jews In Communist countries to the false charges of ritual murder hurled at the Jews of medieval Europe. Mr. Nevo said that Israel would continue to demand “with the utmost vigor” that the Jews of Eastern Europe be permitted to migrate to Israel.
