Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy of Wisconsin said today that he would oppose any attempt to reduce American aid to Israel although he forecast sizeable reductions in the United States foreign aid program.

In an interview with Israel correspondents, the Wisconsin Senator said there was no doubt sow that Israel had become the center of opposition to Communism in the Middle East. Congress, he said, by giving Israel maximum support and refusing to reduce aid to the Jewish State, would show other states involved in the fight against Communism that they could count on support from the United States.
