Senator Irving M. Ives of New York yesterday introduced a bill in the Senate to bar discrimination by either an employer or a labor union against a worker because of race, religion, color, national origin or ancestry. The measure would amend the Taft-Hartley Act.
The bill has the support of 10 members of the Senate Labor Committee, but not the support of Sen. Robert A. Taft, co-author of the labor measure which it seeks to amend. There is a possibility that if the amendment reaches the Senate floor it will become the subject of a filibuster by Southern Senators.
