A resolution opposing Federal aid to private and parochial schools was adopted by the National Association of Hebrew Day School PTA’s at its annual convention here. The Hebrew Day School delegates urged the Federal Government to appropriate funds to supplement those raised by local and state governments to provide adequate educational opportunities for all children, but qualified that such funds should go only to publicly controlled, tax-supported schools.
The delegates further noted the continuing curtailment of funds for the U.S. Office of Education and urged that this office be set up as an independent agency under the direction of a Federal Board of Education. The two-day conclave devoted its deliberations to vital issues in the Hebrew Day School movement.
