American diplomatic action at Amman aimed at curbing Jordanian violations of Israel’s frontier is expected by Israel sources here. This was learned today in the wake of an urgent call by Ambassador Abba Eban on the State Department last Friday. The Department has indicated concern over the incidents, but expressed a wish for further consideration of the facts.
Israel sources anticipate, meanwhile, that action will be taken by Israel at the United Nations to draw attention to the continuation of attacks from the Jordan side of the border. A memorandum describing the situation may be submitted to the United Nations. The same sources feel that the United States has not yet taken sufficient action to restrain Jordan from continuing the provocations, which mounted in intensity last week.
