The Egyptian Government has withdrawn its complaint to the United Nations Security Council against Israel concerning the seizure of the ship “Samir” by Israel last January, it was learned here today. The vessel was seized when discovered in Israeli waters.
Aly Kame Fahmy, Charge D’Affaires of the permanent delegation of Egypt to the U. N. in a letter to Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., president of the Council, revealed that in accordance with an agreement reached June 3rd between representatives of Egypt and Israel on the Mixed Armistice Commission, before a U. N. observer, his government had withdrawn its complaint against Israel. Israeli authorities, Mr. Fahmy stated, had undertaken to return the “Samir” and its crew to Egypt as soon as confirmation of the withdrawal of the complaint was received by Israel.
