The Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada has been named as one of the voluntary agencies participating in a plan for the migration to Canada of dependents of Canadian residents from Germany and Austria, it was revealed here by the Canadian Jewish Congress.
The plan for the migration of these dependents — limited to wife, minor child or parents supported in whole or in part by the applicant — was submitted by the Inter-Governmental Committee for European Migration to the Canadian Government, which approved it. The announcement of the decision was sent to the CJC by Col. Laval Fortier Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, because the Canadian immigration department recognizes the CJC as a representative of Jewish organizations in policy matters, while the JIAS is recognized as an operating agency.
