A free loan fund to enable Moroccan Jewish artisans to purchase tools and materials and open shops of their own was inaugurated here today at ceremonies attended by leading figures in the Jewish community and the local administration.

The fund was established by the Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Colonization Association and will be administered by the local Jewish communal organization in conjunction with the two agencies. A similar fund under the same auspices was opened in Tunisia last month.

Raphael Ben Azeraf, Jewish community leader and president of the new Credit Center, explained that individuals and groups of artisans lacking capital could borrow money for new tools, raw materials or to relocate their shops. In addition, the Credit Center will sponsor training and retraining courses for various types of craftsmen.
