France and Israel Sign “most-favored Nation” Commercial Pact

Israel and France have signed a commercial treaty under which France will grant import licenses for Israel products valued at about 1,500,000 pounds sterling, it was announced here today. Chief among the Israel products to be shipped here will be citrus fruits, canned fruits and vegetables, textiles, shoes, artificial teeth, diamonds and automobiles.

Israel, on its part, will intensify its regular imports from France and will accord these French imports the benefit of “most-favored nation” treatment. The agreement also provides that French nationals wishing to emigrate to Israel may take their capital with the m, and covers the unfreezing and transfer of certain French properties in Israel.
