The Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York today issued an appeal for increased community support to finance its broadened network of services as it announced that it will seek to raise $16,950,000 in its 1953-54 campaign–a total of $2,450,000 more than was raised last year.

The funds are needed to maintain 116 member hospitals and social welfare agencies, whose services have been expanded in recent years through the addition of 42 new facilities and services, Milton Weill, Federation president, announced at a press conference at the Hotel Astor. Salim L. Lewis, investment banker, will head the 1953 campaign, which will open on October 6.
