The Israeli Inspector of Police and the Army Commander of the Jerusalem military district were today preparing a statement for the Israel Supreme Court defending their expulsion of four Arab leaders of the village of Abu Gosh, near here, to various parts of Israel.
The statement is being prepared in accord with a show cause order issued by the Israel Supreme Court in an appeal against the banishment of the Arabs. The Israeli officials must also defend their actions in ordering the four Arabs to report to local police officials daily and in ordering two other villagers expelled to Nazareth to remain under a curfew.
The Arab notables were part of a group of eight residents of Abu Gosh punished for refusing to cooperate with the Israeli authorities in tracing infiltrees from Jorde who bombed a Jewish school near the Arab village.
