The National Commission of the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundations has adopted a projected program for 1954 calling for the expenditure of $1,541,160 for its 208 units serving Jewish university youth in the United States, Canada and Israel, it was announced here today by Joseph L, Paradise, national Hillel treasurer.
In addition to the operating budget of $1,304,160 for 1954, the commission projected an additional expenditure of $237,000 to meet the unfulfilled needs of the Hillel program. If available, these funds would be utilized to broaden the scope of the present Hillel program and add new units on campuses having large Jewish student populations.
The commission unanimously elected Dr. William Haber, Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan is Ann Arbor, to be vice-chairman of the commission and chairman of its executive committee. Re-elected to their posts were Dr. Abram Leon Sacher, as national chairman; Maurice Blsgyer to be Hillel secretary, and Joseph L. Paradise to be Hillel treasurer. Rabbi Arthur Lelyveld was unanimously re-elected for his sixth term as national director of the Hillel Foundations.
