The right of college fraternities to discriminate in their choice of membership was defended by Dr. Carl R. Woodward, president of the University of Rhode Island, this week-end at a meeting of the National Interfraternity Conference here. President Woodward, however, urged the fraternities “to remove restrictions of membership that stem from racial origin or religious affiliation.”
