Harry Posner, Jewish industrialist of Medford, a Boston suburb, today announced a gift of $1,086,000 to Tufts College on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of his marriage. Tufts College is located in Medford.

In announcing his gift, Mr. Posner, who is active in local Jewish affairs, said that he is making the contribution to the college “as partial payment for the debt which we owe to our country of freedom and opportunities.”

Mr. Posner immigrated from Russia to the United States about 50 years ago and, after living for 20 years in New York, settled in Medford. He is honorary chairman of the Boston Combined Jewish Appeal. He and his wife have made other contributions for various purposes to Harvard and Boston Universities and have financed the establishment of a research laboratory at the dental school at Tufts College.
