The British Embassy here today presented 245,000 francs to the World Memorial for Jewish Martyrs as a token gift of the British Government “in appreciation of the symbolic importance of the project” to establish a memorial for the 6,000,000 Jews annihilated by the Nazis.

(At a meeting in Cleveland addressed by Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver and Isaac Schneersohn, president of the executive committee of the World Memorial for Jewish Martyrs in Paris, who is now in this country, the sum of $15,000 was pledged for the project. Dr. Silver donated the first $1,000 at the meeting.)
