Negotiations for the extension of the current Israel-Finnish trade pact began here today amid indications that Israel’s new paper industry will play a major role in supplying the Israel newsprint market.
With the printing of Israel publications on newsprint produced in Israel already begun, it is expected that Israel will need 40 percent less newsprint from Finland this year. Nevertheless, it is expected that trade between the two countries will increase beyond the $6,000,000 of the past year when Israel bought paper and timber from Finland and sold it cars, textiles and citrus fruit.
