Eisenhower Asks $1,560,000 for Screening Refugees for U.S. Entry

President Eisenhower asked Congress today for $1,560,000 in supplemental funds “to provide for continuation of the program of screening and selecting refugees for admission to the United States under the emergency immigration program of the Refugee Relief Act of 1953.” The 1954 appropriation which has to be supplemented provided only enough money to operate the program until March 31 of this year.
