An Israeli military spokesman last night denied emphatically the allegation by Arab delegates at the United Nations that Israel was concentrating troops along the borders of Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. “The charges are pure Oriental fantasy, ” the spokesman said.
The charge was discounted by Israeli spokesmen at the United Nations immediately after the Arab delegates voiced it last Saturday when they appeared as a group before UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold. The Israeli diplomats noted that the Arab allegation was designed to distract world attention from the Negev massacre in which Jordanians killed 11 Israelis.
