A life-sized bronze statue of the late Sen. Theodore G. Bilbo, noted for his religious and racial prejudices, was dedicated today. The statue was unveiled at the Mississippi State Capitol by Secretary of State Heber Lander, who said that the Senator was “maligned” by certain groups because he “was convinced that the welfare of the nation could best be served by preserving racial integrity.”
