Two Israelis and an American carried off the three 1953 Robert S. Marcus Memorial Awards offered by the World Jewish Congress in a contest designed to stimulate research and increased knowledge of Jewish life, it was announced here today by Dr. Aron Steinberg, director of the WJC Department of Culture and Education.
The two Israelis, Joseph Nevada and Dr. Ruth Kestenberg-Gladstein, shared the first and second prizes, each receiving $400. Dr. Abraham G. Duker, sociologist, educator and author of New York, received the third prize of $200. The awards, established in memory of Dr. Marcus, late political director of the WJC, will be presented at ceremonies at Congress House here June 1.
