An exhibition called “The World of Children” was opened here today by an organization known as “For Israel’s Children” whose aim is to raise enough funds to arrange for the transportation and settlement in Israel of 40,000 Jewish orphans.
The organization, which is non-Jewish, was created by leading Swedish women engaged in humanitarian work, including the wife of Archbishop Brillioth. The money realized at the exhibition opened today will be used for the purchase of pre-fabricated houses for children’s villages in Israel.
Among the exhibits is a special Israel section, a WIZO section and a Youth Aliyah section. A unique collection of Jewish ritual objects is also displayed as are numerous dolls, paintings, toys, children’s drawings and other art objects lent by the National Gallery and members of the royal family.
The exhibition was officially opened by Countess Estelle Bernadotte, widow of Count Folke Bernadotte who was assassinated in Palestine. Members of the royal family also visited the exhibition today.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
