The Turkish Government has made available 15,000,000 Turkish pounds ($5,357,000) for the importation of goods from Israel within the framework of the trade pact between the two countries, it was announced here today. Turkey has already exported to Israel an equal amount of goods, mostly agricultural products.
Trade between the two countries has recently been held up by delays within the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce which must pass on the price of all imported goods. Pending action by the chamber, import licenses have been held up. Recently, after talks between Israeli representatives and the government in Ankara, it was decided to expedite the granting of import licenses. Turkey will buy from Israel chiefly cement, textiles and refrigerators.
