TERCENTENARY SELECTION OF ROSENWALD PROTESTED IN DETROIT
The Jewish Community Council here has adopted a resolution supporting the action of the Detroit Tercentenary Committee in protesting the selection of Lessing Rosenwald, leader of the American Council for Judaism, as an official of the national tercentenary observance.
Sidney M. Shevitz, who was re-elected for a third term as president of the Council, defined the Jewish Community Council as “the instrument for democratically uniting and involving the various organized segments of our Jewish community to engage in the cooperative process of dealing with common aims and problems and adopting measures of implementation intended to enhance Jewish living and to better our relationships with each other and with the larger community.”
