Reports published here and abroad that Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency, was to meet Andrei Gromyko, Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister, in London to discuss emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union to Israel, were categorically denied today.
Dr. Goldmann, in a cable from Switzerland to his office here, described the report as “nonsensical” and said that no such meeting was intended.
(In Jerusalem, a Foreign Office spokesman had previously described the report as a “fantastic fabrication.” A spokesman of the Israeli Embassy in London noted that it would be difficult for Dr. Goldmann to meet M. Gromyko in London since the latter has not held the ambassadorship in London for at least two years.)
