California Governor Pledges Bias-free Administration

Gov. Goodwin J. Knight pledged before 2,000 delegates to the convention of the California Federation of Labor here that his administration will adhere to a “firm, stubborn dedication to the principles of equality of opportunity and equal protection under the law. “

The California governor declared that “I shall not countenance discrimination of any form or segregation in schools, nor in places of public accommodation.. .or in any phase of California life within my area of control. “

A report to the convention by the officers of the State Federation pledged the organization to an “unremitting fight” against racial and religious discrimination.
