Registration for settlers who wish to retire on a projected American-type settlement in Israel will be opened in the United States upon the return of Shalom Mirkin, sponsor of the project, it was announced here today by the South African-Palestine Investment Corporation, which will join in building the community.

Seven hundred American Jews have already expressed interest in the settlement, to be known as Tel Shalom and to be constructed along the Lydda-Tel Aviv highway. The settlement, on which preliminary work has begun, will be a garden-type settlement of 250 apartment units with American-type accessories and improvements. The settlement is designed to appeal to middle class Jews in the U.S. and elsewhere who would like to retire in Israel.
