The American Jewish community was called upon today to “re-examine and re-evaluate its role in American life,” at the closing session of the seventh annual assembly of the National Jewish Youth Conference, sponsored by the National Jewish Welfare Board.

The delegates, in a resolution, declared this re-examination was necessary so that the community could determine how to best preserve its liberty. The parley also stressed its “traditional opposition to all threats to freedom including Communism, Fascism and McCarthyism. ” It urged revision of the McCarran-Walter Immigration Act and re-affirmed its support of the United Nations and UN specialized agencies. Ruth Breitman of New York was elected chairman of the Conference for the coming year.
