At the synagogue center here, the only club for Jewish personnel of the American Armed Forces maintained in Germany by the National Jewish Welfare Board, a series of celebrations has been launched to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Jewish settlement in the United States with exhibits, book reviews and cultural and social events.
The program serves to tighten the bond between Jewish soldiers thousands of miles away from their families and American Jewish life in general, it was pointed out by center director Aaron Grodsky. Among the activities planned by the Servicemen’s Council of the center are quiz competitions on American Jewish history, a pageant depicting Jewish life in America through the centuries, a tercentennial ball and discussions on the theme, “Our Opportunities and Responsibilities under Freedom.”
