Secretary of State John Foster Dulles said today on the occasion of the signing of the Suez Canal agreement between Great Britain and Egypt that it was his “hope that this cooperation may now develop fully to the advantage of all concerned and will strengthen the stability and security of the area.”

Mr. Dulles congratulated Egypt and Great Britain, saying he was pleased that Egypt “reiterated in the agreement its adherence to the principles of freedom of transit through the Canal in conformity with the 1888 convention.”
