The Israel delegation at the United Nations today requested an urgent meeting of the Security Council to re-open the question of Egypt’s blockade of the Suez Canal against Israel-bound shipping.

The request was made following a report sent to the Security Council by Maj. Gen. E.L.M. Burns, chief of the UN truce organization, in which he said that Egypt is seeking to evade the issue by procedural squabbling concerning the seizure of the Israel vessel Bat Galim and has thus brought to a deadlock the negotiations on this issue started by the Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission.
