The Canadian Jewish Congress rejected today any appeal to Canadian voters for a candidate, based on racial or religious grounds, in connection with the forthcoming municipal elections here.

In a statement, the Congress noted that it denied on principle any such appeal “designed to give the impression that there is an ethnic or religious block such as the ‘Jewish vote,’ and which is aimed at attracting votes by favoring or discriminating against any group in the electorate.”
