Compensation payments awarded to a Nazi victim under German indemnification legislation can now be transferred abroad without restriction to his country of residence, according to a directive issued by the Bonn Ministry of Economics.
The transfer of such payments to nations outside the dollar area has been possible for some months now; transfers to the United States, Canada and some other countries were previously limited to $120 a month. The new freedom of transfer does not apply to funds deriving from the restitution of identifiable property.
