Itzhak Lamdan, one of the best known contemporary Hebrew poets, died here last night. He was 55. Born in Mlynow, in the Ukraine, he came to Israel in 1920.
Mr. Lamdan, whose poetry expressed the nationalistic hopes and pioneering spirit of the Jews of Palestine and of the newly-formed Israel was editor of the Hebrew literary publication, “Gilyonot. ” Besides writing poetry, Mr. Lamdan translated into Hebrew the best known works of American and European writers including Jack London, Joseph Conrad, Paul de Kruif and Max Brod.
