Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam Dead; Was Hidden from Nazis by Protestant

Amsterdam Chief Rabbi Justus Tal died here this week-end at the age of 73. From 1918 until the outbreak of World War II, he was Chief Rabbi of Utrecht. During the war he was hidden from the Nazis by a Protestant clergyman. Afterwards, he assumed the post in Amsterdam and was elected president of the Dutch Conference of Chief Rabbis.
