The Tel Aviv Chief Rabbinate called on all synagogues in the city to introduce special prayers for the safety of the 13 Egyptian Jews on trial for their lives in Cairo on charges of alleged espionage. The prayers will be recited during the regular morning services.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of two settlements in the Southern Negev have gone on partial hunger strikes in protest against the trial of the Egyptian Jews and are holding special prayer sessions for the safety of the 13.
