Jewish War Veterans’ 1954 Gold Medal Presented to Col. Henshel

The 1954 Jewish, War Veterans Gold Medal of Merit award was presented tonight to Col. Harry D. Henshel, noted Jewish philanthropist, at a dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, attended by more than 1,000 guests. The award is given annually for distinguished service in the furtherance of democratic ideals. General Omar N. Bradley, honorary chairman of the dinner and Col. Henshel’s former Commanding General in Europe, made the presentation.

Col. Henshel has been prominent in his participation on the U.S. Committee for Sports in Israel. He is also active in the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York and the United Jewish Appeal. He is chairman of the Armed Services Committee of the National Jewish Welfare Board and a national officer of the Jewish War Veterans.
