Twelve clashes between Israel patrols and infiltrating bands on various frontiers took place last week, a military spokesman announced today.
One Syrian was killed today when an Israel patrol intercepted two Arabs ploughing a field on Israel territory north of Kfar Szold. As the patrol approached, the Israelis were brought under fire by a nearby Syrian post. The patrol replied. In the exchange one of the two who were on the Israel side of the border was killed and the other escaped.
Israel complained about this item to the Israel-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission, as well as about an attack on an Israel tractor operator near the settlement of Hagovrim, on the Syrian border, yesterday. The Israeli miraculously escaped a hail of fire which opened on him unexpectedly.
An Israel soldier was wounded near the Israel-Egyptian demarcation line in the Negev today when a patrol approached a party of Egyptian shepherds who had crossed into Israel territory with their flocks. As the patrol came near the shepherds to warn them off, Egyptians from a nearby military post opened fire. The patrol replied.
Meanwhile, an attempt by infiltrators to kidnap an Israel Arab and take him across the border to Jordan territory took place near Rosh Hain last night, but the Arab managed to escape his would-be abductors. Israel has complained to the Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission.
