President Eisenhower, in a message today to the United HIAS Service, lauded the activities of the Jewish international migration agency in “helping to provide a new life for unfortunate victims of intolerance and conflict.”
The long record of “unselfish effort” which the groups represented in the United HIAS Service have exerted on behalf of the Jewish people “should provide a firm basis for an even greater and more effective service,” the President said in his message.
The message was sent by the President in connection with the three-day conference on Jewish global migration which the United HIAS Service opens tomorrow at the Hotel Roosevelt here. Jewish lay leaders from many communities and professionals in the welfare field will attend the sessions, one of which will be addressed by Simon E. Sobeloff, United States Solicitor General.
